Comcast turned on Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspot service in the Kansas City metro area.
Comcast said it installed and activated more than 300 hotspots throughout the metro Kansas City area, including public venues like the Independence Events Center, as well as dozens of local businesses and gathering spots, with plans to add more locations.
As per usual, the service is offered for no additional charge to Xfinity Internet customers, who will also have access to more than 300,000 hotspots nationwide through Xfinity Wi-Fi and CableWi-Fi hotspots.
“The activation of WiFi hotspots for Xfinity Internet customers in Independence is a benefit for both Comcast and Time Warner Cable customers,” said Independence City Manager Robert Heacock. “They will be able to stay connected when out and about, whether shopping, dining, or taking in a game at the Independence Events Center.”
“WiFi is a key component of our efforts to deliver Xfinity Internet customers the fastest Internet connection, both inside and outside of the home,” said Tom Nagel, senior vice president of business development, Comcast Cable. “With the ubiquity of wireless technology in consumer devices, our customers have the benefit of being able to access the largest WiFi network in the U.S. to connect them to family, friends and the information they need.”
