Comcast strikes up free Wi-Fi at Citizens Bank Park

March 20, 2013 By Mike Robuck

Baseball fans can tap into Comcast’s Wi-Fi access points for free during Phillies games at Citizens Bank Park.

In its hometown of Philly, baseball fans at the games can access the hotspots with their wireless devices even if they’re not Comcast Xfinity Internet subscribers.

“The addition of Xfinity WiFi at Citizens Bank Park is another example of how we are continuing to expand the number of hotspots available so we can offer our customers the fastest Internet speeds in the home, and a strong and fast Internet option while they are on-the-go,” wrote Tom Nagel, senior vice president, business development in Internet, on Comcast’s blog page. “Our team carefully considers where to place access points in areas where our customers are most likely to be – in shopping districts, in train stations and on platforms, near parks and hospitals and in sports arenas like Citizens Bank Park and the Wells Fargo Center.”

Wi-Fi users need to look for “xfinitywifi” on their devices to log on. Comcast customers can also take advantage of the roaming agreement, which Comcast signed last year with Cablevision, Bright House Networks, Time Warner Cable and Cox Communications, by looking for the “CableWiFi” network in New York, Los Angeles, Kansas City, Orlando and Tampa for no additional charge.

“Over the past year, we’ve added more hotspots throughout the Greater Philadelphia region and launched Xfinity WiFi in Greater Boston, California, in addition to areas of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia,” Nagel wrote.
