Comcast has increasingly been talking up its plays in home automation, the Internet of Things (IoT) and home security, and an executive hire announcement today helps seal the seriousness deal.
Sridhar Solur has joined Comcast as SVP, Xfinity Home and IoT products. He’ll lead product development for the Xfinity Home business, which includes devices and services in the IoT, home automation and home security categories.
Solur will report to Chris Satchell, EVP and chief product officer, as part of the Product Leadership Team for Comcast. He’ll partner closely with Daniel Herscovici, SVP and GM of Xfinity Home as well as Fraser Stirling, SVP, product and hardware management.
Solur is an “intrapreneur,” technologist, and business leader specializing in IoT and mobile. He has more than 20 years of experience in corporate venturing, strategy and product development.
He joins the cable op from Hewlett-Packard, where he was the founder and GM of the company’s wearables and IoT business, as well as the founder and worldwide director of HP’s cloud and mobile printing business (HP ePrint).
