Comcast is offering its Deluxe 100 service to businesses in Augusta, Ga., which marks the second deployment of the DOCSIS 3.0-fueled 100 Mbps service.
Deluxe 100 is available to Comcast Business Class customers for $369.95 per month. Deluxe 100 made its debut in September in the Twin Cities, which was also where Comcast first rolled out its DOCSIS 3.0 tier two years ago.
In addition to speeds of up to 100 Mbps on the downstream, Deluxe 100 has up to 10 Mbps on the upstream.
“We are excited to be able to bring Comcast business customers 100 Mbps high-speed Internet in Augusta,” said Pat Kelley, business services manager in Augusta. “We understand that businesses need a fast connection, and we are glad to continue to be able to help our customers grow their businesses with the most cutting-edge technology available today.”
Deluxe 100 is targeting T1 line services that are offered by competitors in the area. In addition to the 100 Mbps speed, Comcast is also offering Microsoft Communication Service, which is a more than $500 value, with Windows SharePoint and Microsoft Outlook e-mail – with 15 e-mail boxes – at no additional cost. The service also includes
Norton Business Suite software, which is up to a $490 value, that protects up to 25 PCs against viruses and spyware, plus has firewall protection and a Web hosting starter package.
Additional features include optional static IP addresses for e-commerce, additional e-mail addresses and business-class 24/7 customer support.
“It’s a highly competitive offer when compared to business-class T1 lines, many of which sell for hundreds, even thousands, of dollars per month and do not include any of the comprehensive software, applications and other features we offer,” Comcast spokesman Charlie Douglas said via e-mail this morning.
Comcast is also working on a 100 Mbps tier for its residential users, which should start launching later this year. The nation’s largest cable operator expects to have DOCSIS 3.0 rolled out across 80 percent of its footprint by the end of the year.
