Comcast subscribers in South Florida now have access to the company’s AnyRoom DVR offering.
The service, which is a whole-home DVR platform, was first announced earlier this month in Oregon and southwest Washington on the Motorola A28 guide.
According to The Miami Herald, AnyRoom DVR became available yesterday in Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties.
AnyRoom DVR allows the primary HD DVR to control all of the DVR functions, including scheduling, deleting and recording settings, across up to three networked boxes in other rooms in a home. The networked set-top boxes can be used to view, sort, play, fast-forward, rewind, pause, skip ahead or skip back within DVR recordings and give subscribers the same control functionality, no matter what TV they are viewing from.
Launched under Comcast’s Xfinity TV brand, The Miami Herald provided information on the pricing for the AnyRoom DVR service. Customers who don’t subscribe to Comcast’s triple-play package will be charged $19.95 for the first AnyRoom outlet and then $11.90 for additional outlets.
Subscribers to the triple-play bundle pay $13.95 for the first outlet and $7.95 for additional outlets. Triple Play Premier Bundle customers don’t have to pay for the first outlet but will be charged $7.95 for additional outlets.
Comcast competes with AT&T in South Florida. AT&T has had its Total Home DVR service in front of customers for several years now.
Last month, AT&T debuted “My Multiview,” which allows its subscribers to pick up to 55 channels and then watch four of them on the screen at the same time.
The Miami Herald reported that the free My Multiview application is now available in Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe and Palm Beach counties.
