CommScope has extended its BrightPath product line to make it compatible with PON technology. Other adaptations make BrightPath also now suitable for deployments in Europe and Asia.
MSOs can use BrightPath to integrate their HFC networks with fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) connections. The heart of the BrightPath system is the radio frequency over glass optical network unit (R-ONU).
The first addition to the R-ONU is 1610 nanometer return path capability, which meets draft standards being developed by the SCTE, which will be compatible with IEEE and ITU RFOG standards. This addition will enable BrightPath customers to operate RFoG and PON services simultaneously on a single fiber network, CommScope said.
CommScope’s R-ONUs also now support EuroDOCSIS standards.
