CommScope intros cabinets, apparatus devices for VDSL

June 12, 2008 By Traci Patterson

CommScope is offering service providers new cabinets and apparatus devices that the company said can reduce capital and operating expenses and improve Very-high-speed Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL) network performance, respectively.

The smaller footprint and denser design of CommScope’s three new 48-inch cabinets help minimize initial capital investment by reducing right-of-way costs and installation time, while offering a “pay-as-you-grow” investment architecture, CommScope said. All three cabinets also offer acoustic and thermal performance, which translates into lower operating expenses.

“CommScope has built more value into its cabinet offerings by meeting stricter municipality requirements for smaller footprints and noise reduction,” said Lindsay Allen, director of product line management for Cabinet Solutions. “We’ve also created a few different types of these cabinets that allow for additional cost-savings.”

CommScope’s new cabinets are immediately available in three types: modular electronics, integrated cross connect and integrated power pedestals.

CommScope will display its cabinet and apparatus solutions for xDSL network operators, as well as a new line of fiber distribution cabinets, at NXTcomm08 in Las Vegas next week.
