From a field of 28 contestants, Comporium Group’s Greg Brakefield emerged as the overall winner of the SCTE International Cable-Tec Games earlier this week.
Brakefield represented SCTE Region 10 and the SCTE’s Piedmont Chapter in Wednesday night’s Cable-Tec games. The competition, which was sponsored by CommScope, Corning Gilbert, PPC, Times Fiber Amphenol and the SCTE, pitted competitors from across the United States and Canada against each other.
Representing SCTE Region 5, Luis Fasani of Time Warner, from the SCTE Heart of America Chapter, took second place overall. Fasani gained the added distinction Wednesday evening of being named the inaugural recipient of the Spirit of the Games Award, sponsored by CommScope. Presented in memory of David Jones, this award recognized an individual who best exhibits sportsmanship and embraces the learning environment at the games.
Last year’s overall winner, Ron Poole of Comcast, from the SCTE Golden Gate Chapter, took third place overall this year. His chapter is located in SCTE Region 1.

- OTDR: Jerry Kennicott, Comcast, SCTE Bonneville Chapter.
The hosts of the evening’s contests were: AFL Telecommunications, Belden, CommScope, Corning Cable Systems, Corning Gilbert, Exfo, Greenlee Communications, JDSU, Jones/NCTI, PPC, Radiodetection, Times Fiber Amphenol and Trilithic.
