Conax announced this morning that Uruguay pay-TV operators Montecable and Nuevo Siglo were using its content security offerings to enable the addition of over-the-top (OTT) multi-screen, multi-network video and content consumption services.
The two South American cable operators are deploying Conax Contego Unite and Conax Secure Clients on the security front while Cubiware is providing the middleware for the project, which will provision advanced OTT broadband services. The joint project also features system integrator Bold MSS.
“We were looking for a turnkey solution and strong partners that could ensure both fast time-to-market and a high quality solution,” said Federico de Leon, CTO, Montecable. “The expertise of system integrator Bold, combined with the proven, future-oriented and efficient solutions provided by Conax and Cubiware is enabling us to offer a highly unique market differentiator for tapping the new revenue streams offered by OTT content.”
Conax said the hybrid OTT platform provides the Uruguay operators with a cost efficient and unique market differentiator for offering value-added services subscribers. The new Conax Security platform deployed for provisioning the Hybrid DVB-C/P solution will run in simulcrypt with a legacy security platform.
“It was very important for us to work with experienced, regional partners,” says Mario Oliveira, CTO, Nuevo Siglo. “Bold MSS has provided top quality service and valuable expertise in rolling out the new solution. Conax offered both a highly flexible, proven eco-system and the freedom to choose the OTT system components. Thus, we selected the combined Conax / Cubiware solution to provide us with both proven, future-proof security and additional flexibility for consumer services moving into the next generation of content consumption.”
