Fellow status is awarded to society members who demonstrate exceptional achievements and experience in the field of biomedical engineering and a record of membership and participation in the society. Coté was awarded fellow status for his contributions in biomedical engineering education, leadership and research, including development of macroscale to nanoscale optical sensors for in vivo and in vitro medical diagnostics and biomedical sensing.

The newly named fellows will be recognized during a formal ceremony at the society’s annual meeting in Hartford, Conn., in October.

The Biomedical Engineering Society serves as the lead society and professional home for biomedical engineering and bioengineering. BMES’ annual meeting is the premiere scientific meeting for new medical devices and technology. BMES also publishes high-quality journals in the field that provide state-of-the-art information at the frontier of biomedical engineering and bioengineering.
