In the Baton Rouge, La., area, Cox is teaming up with broadcasters to offer temporary out-of-home local TV access to subscribers who were displaced or impacted by the devastating flooding in the region.
“We understand the importance of communication during this time,” Anthony Pope, SVP and region manager of Cox Southeast, says. “Cox is proud to be working with local broadcast partners for the first time ever to provide customers a way to view their local news, weather and entertainment outside of their home as they recover from one of South Louisiana’s worst natural disasters.”
Pope notes that thousands of area residents who are displaced by the storm will have access to the local news updates. “We hope this additional TV access will help keep customers connected during this difficult time,” he adds.
From now through Sept. 16, Cox TV subscribers can view ABC (WBRZ), NBC (WVLA), CBS (WAFB), Fox (WGMB) and CW (WBRL) from any internet source on their tablet or phone via the Cox Contour App, even if away from home. These live streams are also available on computer at watchtv.cox.com.
The Contour app also includes cable channels with an option for out-of-home viewing.
Earlier this week, Cox released a statement reporting it had mobilized teams to gauge the damage done by the historic flooding in its Acadiana and Baton Rouge service areas. It underlined it was looking to restore service as quickly as possible, but the first priority was the safety of customers and employees.
