Interop Technologies, a provider of core wireless solutions for messaging, device management and gateway connectivity, announced this morning that Cox Communications was using its CDMA OTA platform to automate device activation at the point of sale.
Interop said its SS7-based hosted CDMA OTA provisioning offering is IS-683-compliant and provides a highly efficient, low-cost way for network operators to provision the Number Assignment Module (NAM), improving customer experience and reducing operating costs.
“Wireless operators will need a highly reliable, accurate and cost-effective OTA solution for OTASP devices for the foreseeable future,” said Fred Farrell, vice president of sales for North America at Interop Technologies. “Interop’s hosted solution satisfies this need and provides the flexibility to migrate easily to a turnkey solution and next-generation services.”
Today’s announcement marked the second time that Cox has turned to Interop for core wireless solutions. In August 2009, Cox Communications purchased Interop Technologies’ SMSC (SMS Center) 4 Series, Multimedia Messaging Center (MMSC), WAP Gateway and hosted Common Short Code (CSC) Gateway.
