This month Cox Communications has added 1,700 Wi-Fi hotspots for its subscribers to log into in Phoenix and Las Vegas.
Cox has launched its Wi-Fi service, CoxWiFi, in six markets to date with more planned for next year, including hundreds of new access points in San Diego after the first of the year. Cox had previously deployed its Wi-Fi service in both Phoenix and Las Vegas.
Cox’s 1-Gigabit service, which it calls “G1GABLAST,” launched in Phoenix in October with rollouts to follow in Las Vegas, Omaha and Virginia.
Also this year, Cox has doubled the speeds of the two most popular Internet plans in areas such as Phoenix, increasing speeds for more than 70 percent of its customers.
“In addition to the incredible speeds Cox offers in the home, our customers want access to reliable high speed Internet wherever they are,” said Len Barlik, executive vice president of product development and management at Cox Communications. “Providing them Cox WiFi service allows us to meet their changing information access needs, whether it’s TV programming, social connections, home monitoring or simply general information that is reliable from the four walls of their home to the four corners of their community. Cox provides solutions not only today but for the future, as well.”
The latest Phoenix and Las Vegas area hotspots are available to Cox’s data subscribers, as well as members of the Cable WiFI roaming alliance, which also includes access to 300,000 hotspots nationwide from Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cablevision and Bright House Networks.
