As subscribers continue to attach a plethora of devices to their home networks and expect their access to broadband be pristine, the idea of WiFi dead zones in the home becomes far less acceptable seemingly every day. Operators including Comcast, Midco, Cox, and others have been taking aim at the issue with plans to roll out solutions that help ensure solid WiFi access throughout the premises so subscribers can speedily access service no matter where in the house they may roam.
The latest announcement on this front came from Cox on Tuesday when the operator said its Panoramic WiFi is now available to all its internet customers nationwide. The service launched this week in Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Tucson to complete the national rollout.
“With Panoramic WiFi, our customers are getting a consistent, dependable, and high-quality connection in every room in their home – even while moving between rooms,” Philip Nutsugah, VP, product strategy and management at Cox, says. “Since launch in October 2016, we’ve seen rapid adoption and positive feedback from high-speed internet customers. As more devices get connected in the home, Panoramic WiFi becomes the backbone.”
The whole-home WiFi platform also allows subscribers to monitor, manage, and control their in-home network from a dashboard. Additionally, when customers travel they can use Panoramic WiFi to connect to Cox’s more than 500,000 hotspots, which is reportedly made possible by a collaboration of technology companies across the country.
According to Cox’s website, the service is available with any of the company’s high-speed internet packages by adding the Panoramic WiFi modem starting at $9.99 a month.
