Cox Communications has promoted Bill Fitzsimmons to senior vice president of corporate finance and chief accounting officer.
With the promotion, Fitzsimmons duties include all aspects of accounting, financial planning and analysis, annual valuation assessments, and internal and external reporting, as well as operating and income taxes for Cox.
Prior to his current role, Fitzsimmons was vice president of accounting and financial planning and analysis.
“Bill has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and made significant contributions to the success of our business,” said Mark Bowser, chief financial officer and executive vice president for Cox Communications. “He is often sought after not only for his expertise in the area of finance, but also because of his industry and business acumen.”
Fitzsimmons joined Cox in 1993 as director of finance for the Pensacola and Fort Walton Beach, Fla., operations and later became vice president of financial operations for Cox San Diego. Fitzsimmons was at the San Diego cable system during the launches of Cox’s telephone, Internet and digital video services.
Prior to joining Cox, Fitzsimmons was with Time Warner Cable for 11 years in a variety of roles and locations.
Fitzsimmons is a member of Financial Executives International and the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing. He serves on committees for the National Cable & Telecommunications Association and is co-chair of the Broadcast Cable Financial Management Association.
