Cox Business will be the exclusive telecommunication services provider for the new Las Vegas Arena, a 20,000-seat sports and entertainment venue scheduled to open on the Las Vegas Strip in April 2016.
For the project, Cox built a 10-gigabit fiber optic network supporting both wired and wireless Internet connectivity inside the venue. The company picked Cisco’s Wi-Fi solution for more than 550 Wi-Fi access points, which the companies say will deliver download speeds of up to 20 Mbps. Cox says visitors to the arena will be able to authenticate their free Wi-Fi connectivity as they approach from Toshiba Plaza, the outdoor entertainment space next door.
Cox is also using Ciscos StadiumVision to manage more than 60 HD channels and live in-house feeds for the 650 digital displays throughout the arena. All monitors will support 4K video and have the capability to carry live in-house feeds from the arena floor.
