Cox has signed a contract worth just less than $500,000 with Vyyo to use the latter’s T-1 products in select Cox systems, Vyyo reported on its quarterly conference call with press and analysts.
Until today, some MSOs resold T-1 lines from local telcos (sometimes called “type twos”). Vyyo’s T-1 solution enables operators to use their existing hybrid fiber/coax plant to provide a T-1-equivalent service without having to lease lines from rival carriers.
Vyyo also said Cox intends to integrate Vyyo’s 3 GHz passive devices in its next-generation network architecture design. Vyyo said it is taking steps to license alternative sources for its products.
