When it comes to cable operators, Cox Communications ranks the highest for business Ethernet, according to the latest survey from Vertical Systems Group.
Cox achieved its top ranking on Vertical Systems’ 2012 U.S. Cable MSO Ethernet Leaderboard based on the number of billable ports that it delivered. Following Cox on the leaderboard were, in order, Time Warner Cable, Charter Communications, Cablevision’s Lightpath and Comcast.
Ethernet services are a growing opportunity for cable operators. When it comes to cable operators’ business services, Cox was an early pioneer, while Comcast got into the Ethernet game a few years ago.
“Business Ethernet services are a strategic and growing revenue source for cable MSOs. We’re seeing more aggressive marketing as the cable operators step up their efforts against the incumbent carriers and CLECs within their respective service territories,” said Rick Malone, principal at Vertical Systems Group. “Cox and Time Warner Cable have consistently held positions on Vertical’s U.S. Leaderboard and continue to expand their Ethernet businesses. However, Comcast currently has the fastest port growth of the providers on the 2012 Cable MSO Ethernet Leaderboard.”
Each company ranked on the 2012 U.S. Cable MSO Ethernet Leaderboard has achieved either a leaderboard rank or a Challenge Tier citation on the 2012 U.S. Business Ethernet Leaderboard.
Cox was the highest-ranked cable operator on the Business Ethernet board, coming in at No. 4, while Time Warner Cable was ranked eighth overall.
