The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers Foundation announced that Cox Communications’ Scott Hatfield has been appointed to its board of directors to take over for Cox’s Chris Bowick, who retired from Cox and the board this summer.
The SCTE’s board of directors appointed Hatfield, who is executive vice president and CTO with Cox, as Bowick’s replacement on the 11-member SCTE Foundation board of directors. Bowick, who has been an SCTE member since 1981, was senior vice president of engineering and CTO with Cox.
Hatfield is responsible for Cox’s integrated technology organization, which includes all aspects of information technology and engineering. He is charged with the design, development, operation and continuous improvement of a seamless technology platform to power Cox’s products and services. This includes the complete set of products, including video, data, wireline voice and wireless.
Hatfield is also charged with all of Cox’s internal systems, including systems for customer care and enterprise operations. He joined Cox as its chief information officer in January 1996.
When Bowick announced his plan to retire earlier this year, Cox started reorganizing its upper management team.
The SCTE Foundation was established by the SCTE board of directors in 2005 and began issuing grants in 2006. The Foundation has helped numerous SCTE members continue their education and development by distributing grants totaling almost $140,000.
