CSG Systems has signed a definitive agreement to buy Telution Inc., a privately-owned provider of operations support system (OSS) software, for about $22 million in cash.
CSG said it will integrate Telution’s COMX product suite into its own billing and customer care solution – the CSG Advanced Convergent Platform (ACP) — to help cable and satellite operators more easily bundle and deploy an increasing number of complex IP-based products and services. With COMX, CSG already provides customer care and billing support to such major companies as Shaw Communications, Sprint and AT&T.
Specifically, CSG said it will extend its ability to support its customers’ sales, ordering, partnering and service provisioning processes. It also said the deal will allow it to deliver enhanced customer care capabilities through all customer touch points, including the Web, interactive television, field service, statements, and call centers.
“As cable and satellite operators continue to introduce more complex products and services, a need has emerged for solutions that can help them manage the complexity, from both services and customer relationship standpoints,” said Mike Scott, executive vice president of CSG Systems. “Our customers are facing a new era of tougher competition, increasing the pressure to deliver more complex combinations of video, voice and data services. CSG is evolving its solution and approach to help them compete successfully.”
CSG said it doesn’t expect the deal to have a significant impact on its projected first quarter revenues. But it does expect the transaction to boost revenues by $5 million to $7 million in revenues for the entire year.
