Nobody enjoys being on the receiving end of a bad attitude. Well, it seems machines have picked up on this unfortunate behavior. A certain little robot created by Alexia Léchot exhibits quite the stubborn personality.
Say hello to Deltu! This cheeky robot has three arms positioned around an Arduino control center. The design uses Unity3d applications, and as the human interacts with the software, HTTP requests are sent to the computer. A Python server sends the HTTP request strings to the Arduino.
There are three fun applications for the robot and the user to play, interacting through two iPads. One of the featured applications is called “Together.” In this particular game, an identical pattern is shown on both iPad screens. Deltu will tap the cluster of shapes in a certain order and the user has to copy this pattern exactly.
If you don’t copy Deltu’s movement correctly, the robot will simulate frustration. It’ll move its mechanical arms from side-to-side, disappointed in your lack of concentration. Depending on Deltu’s “mood,” it might even take an impromptu break from the current game in progress. Deltu can decide to skim through music on SoundCloud, follow new accounts on Twitter, and browse various social media sites. It can also open up the camera app, snap a selfie, and post it to Instagram.
So do you think you can handle this robot’s sass? Check it out in the video below!
