World’s First Single Chip 3D Gesture Systems
Easing the development of solutions with Microchip’s MGC3130, the world’s first E-field-based 3D gesture controller.
Microchip Technology has announced the new MGC3130 Hillstar Development Kit for 3D gesturing systems. The kit provides designers with a step-by-step approach to develop 3D gesturing systems with Microchip’s MGC3130 and electrodes that meet their specific space requirements.
The MGC3130 is the world’s first single-chip 3D gesture/free space position tracking solution, according to the company.
The GestICTechnology enabled with the MGC3130 serves a range of applications in the computing, lighting, consumer-electronic, and automotive markets.
Gateway to the Cloud for Connected Products
Developing highly connected industrial control and HMI products using Tiva MCUs with USB, data protection, LCD, and 50+ software examples.
Texas Instruments has announced the newest additions to the Tiva C Series microcontroller (MCU) platform. The Tiva TM4C129x MCUs are the industry’s first ARM Cortex-M4-based MCUs with Ethernet MAC+PHY, enabling connected products that bridge the cloud and amplify the Internet of Things (IoT).
The new MCUs offer a number of simultaneous connectivity options, as well as on-chip data protection, and LCD controller to save significant board space and enable connected, advanced applications, such as home/building automation gateways, connected human-machine interface (HMI), networked sensor gateways, security access systems, programmable logic controllers, and others.
Developers can start evaluating Tiva TM4C129x MCUs with the available Tiva DK-TM4C129x Connected Development Kit, which utilizes the on-chip Ethernet MAC+PHY.
Software Platform Builder for ARM Cortex-M
New software platform builder features TASKING compiler suite.
Altium Limited has announced its Software Platform for rapid prototyping and development for ARM Cortex-M based microcontrollers. The Software Platform includes a comprehensive range of middleware functionalities, such as an RTOS, CAN, USB, TCP/IP, I2C, HTTP(S), file systems, graphical user interface, and touch panel control.
The developer puts the middleware framework of an application together and generates the code that delivers the required functionality.
ARM TechCon has announced version 6.70 of the complete C/C++ development toolchain IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM. The version brings improved integrations and new functionality as well as new device support.
- On-demand download of example projects.
- A device configuration tool Freescale Processor Expert Software.
- New pragma directives to set default placement and attributes for variable or function declarations and definitions.
- Support for new microcontrollers from Atmel, NXP, and Toshiba.
Virtual Pneumatics for Brakes & Suspension
Simulation models for pneumatic brake systems and air suspension systems.
Beginning in early 2014, dSPACE will offer simulation models for pneumatic brake and air suspension systems. The ASM Pneumatics model library, which will become part of the dSPACE Automotive Simulation Models (ASM) product family, enables realistic brake simulation for commercial vehicles, and comfort functions for passenger vehicles. Features include:
- Click-to-select configurations for simulating air brake and air suspension systems.
- ModelDesk graphical tool for assigning application-specific parameters.
- A fallback functionality for reverting to a purely mechanical brake system.
- Support for the sequential addition of several trailers from the ASM library.
