A few weeks ago, AT&T announced that DirecTV would offer partial coverage of this week’s 2016 Masters Tournament via a live 4K Ultra high definition broadcast, marking the inaugural live event on a new DirecTV 4K channel. But TV Predictions noted yesterday that DirecTV will actually be introducing three channels.
According to information posted on DirecTV’s website in its help center, the company say it offers the following in 4K:
• Channel 104 is a full-time channel featuring a mix of 4K content, including nature documentaries and original content from Audience.
• Channel 105 is a full-time PPV movie channel playing full-length feature movies and short-form documentaries.
• Channel 106 is an event channel featuring free 4K live events such as Amen Corner from the Masters and PPV events.
DirecTV is also highlighting its 4K offerings at this consumer-facing site.
DirecTV states in its help center that customers interested in getting the UHD programming will need a Genie HD DVR, a manufacturer-certified DirecTV 4K ready TV and an Ultimate or Premier package from the service provider. It also requires installation by a DirecTV technician.
