Dish Network and LIN TV Corp. announced yesterday that they had reached a new accord on a retransmission consent agreement that ended a blackout that had lasted eight days.
LIN Media pulled the plug its channels in 17 markets on March 5 after negotiations came to a standstill. The financial terms of the new agreement weren’t disclosed.
“Dish Network is pleased to have reached a deal with LIN Media that restored local TV channels to customers in 17 markets,” according to a statement by Dish. “We sincerely appreciate the patience our customers have shown during this time. We will continue to work hard to offer more choices and the lowest everyday prices in the industry.
Dish subscribers in locations such as Austin, Texas, and Columbus, Ohio, were without some or all of the CBS, NBC, FOX and CW affiliates due to the standoff.
“We are pleased that our negotiations with Dish Network resulted in a fair resolution and a new retransmission consent agreement,” said LIN Media’s president and CEO Vincent Sadusky. “We thank our viewers and our advertisers for their tremendous support.”
