Dish reported its Q3 2016 results on Wednesday, which included a subscriber loss, but also an average monthly revenue per sub bump. In the third quarter, the pay TV operator says it activated approximately 736,000 gross new pay TV subscribers compared to approximately 751,000 gross new pay TV subscribers in the same quarter in 2015. Net pay TV subs declined approximately 116,000 for Q3 2016, compared to a loss of approximately 23,000 in Q3 2015.
Dish includes all of its Sling TV subscribers in the company’s total pay TV metrics.
Pay TV average revenue per user (ARPU) for the third quarter totaled $89.44, compared to third quarter 2015 pay TV ARPU of $86.33. Churn rate was reported at 2.11 percent versus 1.86 percent for the third quarter in 2015.
On the broadband front, Dish shed around 20,000 net broadband subscribers in the quarter, bringing its broadband subscriber base to approximately 593,000.
