Dish Network has launched another satellite, orbited to provide yet more bandwidth as the company adds more and more HD content.
The EchoStar XV, the company’s second satellite launched this year, is scheduled to come on line later this summer.
Dish said it currently delivers more than 200 national HD channels, as well as HD locals in 156 markets
The satellite was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Saturday. It reached a geosynchronous transfer orbit and will eventually be positioned at 61.5 degrees West Longitude at an altitude of approximately 22,000 miles.
