In an effort to recognize individuals and companies that have helped the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) promote its effort for connecting DLNA-certified devices to networks in consumers’ homes, the organization recently handed out its awards for remarkable achievements and company contributions.
The annual award program recognized individuals nominated by peers within the Alliance. Recipients were selected by the DLNA’s board of directors and presented with statuettes recognizing their commitment.
“DLNA is a cross-industry consortium of companies united by a shared vision of truly interoperable products within the networked digital home,” said Nidhish Parikh, president of DLNA and chairman of the DLNA Board of Directors. “The Alliance is where it is today due to the expertise, determination and commitment of our individual members and their companies.”
The 10 award winners were: Barbara Stark, lead member of the technical staff, AT&T; Ryan Chiang, senior standardization lead, CableLabs; Patrick Ladd, senior director of standards, Comcast: Mike Ward, director of sound platform, Dolby: Ted Laverty, senior director of corporate strategy and development, DTS; Jed Johnson, fellow of the technical staff, Google; Jacek Minko, CTO, iLook Corporation; Kim Lewis, marketing program manager, Intel; Bernard Peigné, senior standardization manager for the Digital Home, Orange; Graham Clift, senior staff engineer, Sony Electronics;
“Comcast is keenly interested in the work being done by DLNA and is proud to sponsor and contribute to the Alliance,” Comcast’s Ladd said. “These efforts to improve the consumer experience through interoperability, high quality premium content and accessibility are very important to Comcast.”
Last year CableLabs hosted an interop that featured cable operators, DLNA vendors, a new CableLabs tru2way Reference Implementation (RI) tool and HTML5 components.

CableLabs has been working with DLNA members to enable delivery of high value cable content to DLNA products” CableLabs’ Chiang said. “Together, we create seamless interoperability of home devices, which when coupled with great content is a winning combination for consumers. I am honored to be recognized for my contributions by the Alliance.”
