DTS and RGB Networks said they will integrate the former’s audio solutions into the latter’s multi-screen IP video delivery products.
The result is a product that video distributors can use to control program and advertising sound levels, in conformance with the Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation (CALM) Act, without sacrificing audio quality, the two vendors said.
Initially deployed on RGB’s TransAct Encoder/Transcoder, the joint solution enables the distribution of high-definition audio across consumers’ portable devices and set-top boxes.
With the CALM Act passed to prevent loud commercials, video delivery platforms must meet these and other loudness control standards globally on multiple devices. DTS audio solutions control and match content loudness without compromising sound quality – delivering a consistent, natural sound to support the multi-screen entertainment experience.
“The amount of entertainment content being consumed on video-enabled devices – large and small – is growing rapidly,” said Ramin Farassat, vice president of product marketing and business development for RGB Networks. “We are excited to be able to meet the needs of our customers by expanding our relationship with DTS to ensure that our multi-screen products deliver a high-quality audio entertainment experience free of loudness irregularities across all screens.”
