Did somebody declare February 5th National Make Nice Day? First Mediacom and Sinclair; now this. EchoStar Communications and Home Box Office signed a long-term distribution agreement and dropped their legal actions against each other.
On the face of it, the deal provides for the distribution of HBO and Cinemax television services on EchoStar’s Dish Network. Specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The provisions of the deal also apparently solve a couple of problems between the two. EchoStar had filed a complaint with the FCC that HBO was overcharging for programming, and HBO filed a lawsuit against EchoStar claiming EchoStar owed it about $90 million in unpaid fees. Both actions were dismissed.
