CATS in space
The International Space Station is getting a shipment of CATS. I know what you’re thinking, but sadly, these are CAT modules. The CATS are sensors that will be operational on the ISS for at least six months and up to three years. Their task is to offer researchers a better understanding of how nonrenewable energy sources are affecting climate change.
Wireless charging pads in Starbucks
Duracell Powermat and Starbucks announced that they have begun a national rollout of Powermat wireless charging in Starbucks beginning with stores in San Francisco’s Bay Area. From WiFi and the in-store Digital Network to mobile payment and digital music downloads, Starbucks hopes to anticipate their customers’ needs and provide a solutions. Rather than hunting around for an available power outlet, you’ll now be able to seamlessly charge your device while enjoying your favorite coffee or Venti Iced Skinny Hazelnut Macchiato with Sugar-Free Syrup, Extra Shot, Light Ice, and No Whip.
Mercedes new self-driving car
Mercedes has a new car to showcase, and it’ll drive itself. The car, called Luxury in Motion or the F o15, isn’t something you’ll be able to find on the lot, but it might be something you’ll be able to find in the future. This car uses carbon-fiber reinforced plastic steel and aluminum to reduce the weight to about half the average car currently on the road. The only minor detail here is that this material doesn’t exist just yet. The car was featured at this years CES.
