Entone said it plans to unveil a new line of hybrid gateways next week, at the NCTC Conference in Tampa.
The company’s Magi 550 series are designed to enable cable operators to combine traditional linear TV with emerging cloud (OTT) applications and services.
The gateways will incorporate eight tuners and H.264 transcoders.
The Magi 550 series products will have 802.11ac access point for wireless distribution, MoCA for HD video distribution over existing coax cabling, and Boxless for supporting multiple TVs from a single set-top box, the company said.
Magi provides CableCARD support for compatibility with legacy conditional access systems. It also supports automatic configuration and remote administration via TR-069 to help minimize truck rolls and reduce support costs.
Magi 550 series is pre-integrated with middleware and digital rights management (DRM) systems to enable operators to quickly launch hybrid TV services.
“With TV moving to the cloud, operators should embrace an IP migration strategy that allows them to launch Hybrid TV services today to strengthen the relationship with their subscribers, while providing a future-proof connected home platform to introduce new and emerging applications,” said Mark Evensen, founder and CTO of Entone. “Magi provides an evolutionary path for operators to deliver linear TV and OTT services across multiple IP devices from a single, operator-branded user interface.”
