Entropic Communications, which has developed a new chipset for home networking digital entertainment using cable lines, has raised an additional $25 million from a group of private investors, including several major cable and satellite industry companies.
Focus Ventures said it’s leading the Series C round of financing for Entropic, which has now raised a total of $78 million. Such previous investors as Cisco Systems, Comcast Interactive Capital, EchoStar, Intel, Motorola, Panasonic and Time Warner also participated in the fresh round.
Entropic said it will use the money to “accelerate adoption” of its new chipset, known as c.LINK. The company recently announced that it shipped its 100,000th unit of the chip.
