Thanks to a new carriage agreement, AT&T is now distributing Epix’s movies and original programming to its U-verse subscribers.
AT&T has added Epix, Epix 2, Epix 3 and Epix Drive-In to its channel lineup, and is offering a free preview of Epix that will run from July 25-27. The service, which started airing today, includes linear and on demand programming, the latter of which will be available next month.
“We know our customers want great movies and we are committed to providing a great selection. We look forward to working with EPIX to provide our customers the broadest access to the Epix lineup of top quality movies and original programming across all platforms,” said Aaron Slator, president of content and advertising sales, AT&T.
AT&T subscribers now have access to movies such as “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” “Star Trek Into Darkness” and “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.” Epix is available in HD and SD.
Authenticated subscribers will be able to access more than 3,000 titles on Epix’s web portal via the Epix App on hundreds of devices, as well as access both Epix VOD and the live Epix feeds on Uverse.com and the U-verse apps. Epix is available for $8 per month with U-basic and above TV Packages.
Epix’s video content is available across a range of devices, including Xbox, PS3, PS4, iPad, and Android.
The deal with AT&T is a feather in Epix’s distribution cap. Cox Communications trialed its TV Everywhere service with Epix four years ago. Epix also has deals in place with Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks, Charter Communications, Dish Network, Mediacom Communications, NCTC, Suddenlink Communications and Verizon. Epix currently doesn’t have distribution agreements in place with Comcast, AT&T and DirecTV, among others.
“We know that AT&T holds innovation and the consumer experience in the highest regard and we are very pleased to embark on this new relationship,” said Mark Greenberg, president and CEO of Epix. “Working together with AT&T provides EPIX with access to consumers nationwide and brings Hollywood’s biggest blockbuster films, documentaries, concerts and comedy specials to a brand new audience.”
Epix is jointly-owned by Viacom’s Paramount, MGM and Lionsgate. Through its agreements with cable, satellite and telco providers, Epix is available to over 50 million homes nationwide.
