Epix, a premium network owned by MGM, is slated to launch across Comcast’s Xfinity TV platforms on June 13, including the voice-enabled X1 platform, the Xfinity Stream app and web portal.
Epix said the launch significantly expands the network’s footprint, making it available to about 70 million homes across traditional and emerging distributors.
The distribution agreement was first announced in late November last year, though specific terms were not disclosed.
“We are incredibly excited to partner with the team at Comcast to bring our expanded lineup of original programming and extensive movie catalogue to their customers,” said Michael Wright, president of EPIX in a statement.
“Comcast’s broad reach and coverage in key markets throughout the country, combined with its trailblazing efforts in delivering a state-of-the-art customer experience, make it an industry leader on every level,” added Monty Sarhan, EPIX General Manager.
Epix offers more than 2,000 feature films including James Bond, Star Trek and Rocky movie franchise and said it has begun ramping up investment in its original series. The lineup for 2018 premieres include spy thriller Deep State, season two of Get Shorty and the season three return of CIA drama Berlin Station.
“Our goal has always been to offer our customers more choices and the ability to access all the programming they desire when and where they want it,” said Daniel Spinosa, VP of video entertainment services at Comcast Cable. “We’re excited to bring EPIX into the fold and offer both their growing catalog of top quality original programming, and their robust movie library to all subscribers, across all platforms.”
