ESPN sportscaster Chris Berman, along with five other inductees, is rumbling, bumbling, stumbling into the Cable Center’s Hall of Fame next year.
The six newly elected industry leaders will be inducted during the 18th annual Cable Hall of Fame Celebration, held in conjunction with the National Cable & Telecommunications Association’s newly minted Internet and Television Expo (INTX) next year in Chicago.
In addition to Berman, the new honorees are:
• Bill Roedy, global health ambassador and former chairman and CEO of MTV Networks International
• Steve Simmons, chairman, Patriot Media and Communications
• JC Sparkman, chief operating officer, TCI, retired
• Tony Werner, executive vice president and chief technology officer, Comcast Cable
• and Eleanor Winter, senior vice president, NCTA.
The honorees were chosen based on their dedication and contributions to the development of the cable industry. The 2015 Cable Hall of Fame selection committee was chaired by Michael Willner, president and CEO of GreatLand Connections and a member of The Cable Center’s board of directors.
“It is a pleasure to announce the six new members of our Cable Hall of Fame,” said Willner. “From programming visionaries to technology trendsetters, they exemplify the spirit of innovation that has helped to drive and build this industry.”
Since 1998, 108 men and women have been inducted into the Cable Hall of Fame. The 18th annual Cable Hall of Fame Celebration will be held on May 5 at the Chicago Navy Pier.
“Congratulations to the Cable Hall of Fame Class of 2015,” said Larry Satkowiak, president and CEO of The Cable Center. “They have all exhibited significant leadership and influence upon the people, organizations and communities served by our industry, and we are honored and excited to welcome them into the Cable Hall of Fame during the INTX event.”
