Evolution Digital has become a licensed reseller of Softel’s MediaSphere product line, which will enable Evolution to offer new interactive solutions to cable operators.
Evolution Digital has developed services based on a customized version of the Softel MediaSphere interactive TV playout system to send service and event information to Evolution’s DTA and CableCard devices in subscriber locations, the vendor said.
Evolution will also use MediaSphere to provide software updates to subscriber devices in an MSO footprint.
“This customized MediaSphere platform will allow cable operators to manage multiple networks containing mixed subscriber equipment from a single server, dramatically decreasing the total cost of ownership to deploy our solution,” said Perfecto Martinez, director of engineering at Evolution Digital. “This solution will be offered in a pay-as-you-grow model, allowing cable operators to launch a few sites at first, but grow the system to manage many more as their business grows.”
According to Softel CEO Sam Pemberton, Softel’s MediaSphere is deployed in North America with more than 20 major operators, programmers and developers. And “Evolution Digital leverages new capabilities of the MediaSphere platform to deliver enhanced video services to a much larger number of cable operators in North America,” Pemberton said.
