Twitter was ablaze yesterday afternoon with frustrated Time Warner Cable customers in the NYC area who’d lost access to some services. Press reports generally have service being restored somewhere in the 6:30-9 p.m. timeframe.
Cox customers also reportedly suffered downtime in some areas of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Both of the widespread outages are being pinned on a fiber cut by third-party construction that affected systems provided by Level 3.
“Our network is experiencing service disruptions affecting some of our customers with operations in the Northeastern United States due to a fiber cut caused by third-party construction. Our technicians are on site and working to restore service,” Level 3 said in a statement.
