Foundry Networks announced that Fibertech Networks has deployed its NetIron XMR MPLS multi-service backbone routers to power its wide area next-generation metropolitan network.
Fibertech Networks has also installed Foundry’s FastIron family of Layer 2/3 switches for network access layer requirements.
Founded in 2000, Fibertech is one of the largest independently owned metro-area fiber optic footprints and a leader in building and operating fiber optic networks. It has core networks throughout more than 21 metropolitan areas across 10 states, stretching from Indiana to New Hampshire.
The NetIron XMR multi-service backbone routers offer 10 gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) density, Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) capability, flexibility and manageability allowing Fibertech to provide scalability in terms of network growth, and additional value-add services to customers.
