Fibrant, a broadband service provider owned and operated by the city of Salisbury in North Carolina, has deployed Minerva Networks’ IPTV platform.
Fibrant is targeting up to 10,000 fiber-to-the-home customers for advanced television services. The new TV services include HDTV, whole-home digital video recording, video-on-demand and Internet TV.
The Minerva solution includes a TV widget engine for the delivery of third-party applications including RSS news feeds, stocks, and weather and traffic information, as well as visual voicemail, caller ID and popular social networking services.
Minerva said it is also planning to help Fibrant deliver local community television, online education services and digital signage.
