The Fiber Optic Communities of the United States (FOCUS), a recently formed non-profit organization, said its membership has grown by five members.
New network operator members include Capital Broadband, a company that is building fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) networks in new housing developments in North Carolina, Virginia, Alabama and Florida; and the Jackson Energy Authority of Jackson, Tenn., which went live with an FTTP network in April.
FOCUS also added three public advocacy groups: the Telework Consortium, Telework Coalition and One Economy Corporation.
Washington, D.C.-based FOCUS kicked off last month with two members: the Utah Telecommunications Open Infrastructure Agency (UTOPIA); and Brambleton, a 6,000-home FTTP community in Loudoun County, Va.
