CenturyLink announced this morning that former Liberty Global executive Aamir Hussain has joined the company as its new chief technology officer.
Hussain, who reports to CenturyLink CEO and president Glen Post, previously worked in the Netherlands as Liberty Global’s managing director and chief technology officer for Europe.
“Our industry continues to evolve, and we remain focused on investing accordingly to expand and grow our company to meet our customers’ needs. As a global leader in network, managed hosting and cloud services, we must continue our evolution to IP-enabled network services, cloud infrastructure and hosted IT solutions. Aamir’s extensive knowledge of our industry, as well as his understanding of demand for solutions brought about by innovation, will help us continue to provide value to our customers, shareholders and employees,” Post said.
CenturyLink said Hussain would play a key role in automating and scaling CenturyLink’s products, creating a seamless customer experience, optimizing service delivery, and rationalizing company platforms and technologies.
CenturyLink said Hussain and his team would be responsible for the design and delivery of next generation products, services and technologies that will be critical to the company achieving its strategic growth priorities.
Prior to Liberty Global, Hussain was senior vice president and chief technology officer at Covad Communications. He has held leadership and technology positions during career stops at Telus, Qwest, BellSouth, Samsung and Motorola.
“CenturyLink is uniquely positioned to provide a great combination of network and cloud services to enterprise customers,” Hussain said. “I am excited to join CenturyLink’s management team and I’m looking forward to strengthening its position as a next generation IT services and cloud infrastructure provider.”
