A newly launched free mobile app for the “Hinge Selection Guide” from Reell Precision Manufacturing enables ready access to product recommendations and samples anywhere and anytime based on specified application requirements. The mobile app for iOS and Android systems is available for downloading to smartphones and tablets from both the Apple App and Google Play stores. The app effectively accelerates and narrows the traditional product “search” process and offers direct access to specs and 2D and 3D documentation allowing for quick integration into CAD models. Users can further request a free product sample to validate concept, design, and performance in physical mockups and/or prototypes.
Upon downloading the app, users are prompted to choose the desired type of Reell device (hinge or torque insert, as well as the mounting configuration). Users then input a torque profile (symmetric, differential, or one-way), the necessary range of motion (up to 360º), and preferred material (aluminum, stainless, nylon, or zinc). The tool calculates torque consistent with supplied end-product weight and length. Based on all the information, the tool filters the entire Reell product line to arrive at the appropriate choice for the application.
