OpenTV announced that YPSO / Numericable, a cable broadband operator in France, Belgium and Luxembourg, has become a customer.
YPSO / Numericable will use OpenTV’s middleware, Web browser, PVR2, and Core2 products to support its rollout of digital TV services.
The operator is also working with the Kudelski Group, which is supplying other equipment from Nagravision, Quative and Lysis.
YPSO / Numericable has yet to announce its selection of a set-top box. OpenTV said that the operator will be able to select the best STB manufacturers and provide its subscribers with interactive TV, PVR, VOD, and high definition-services.
YPSO / Numericable offers digital and analog video, data and voice to 9.5 million homes primarily in France. It was created through the combination of Est Videocommunication, France Telecom Cable, TDF Cable, NC Numericable, UPC France and Noos, Coditel Brabant and Coditel Luxembourg.
