Frontier Communications is making an additional investment in the Hartford, Conn., network to increase speeds and deploy additional fiber technology to both businesses and residential subscribers in the north end of the city.
“Gigabyte passive optical network (GPON) technology is Frontier’s first commercial deployment in Connecticut. Our fiber network will enable businesses to expand their capabilities and competitiveness and enrich the lives of our residential customers,” Debra Zampano, Frontier’s area GM for the region, reports.
The company already provides the ultra-high speed technology in West Hartford, North Haven, New Haven and Stamford.
“Frontier’s investment in the north end of Hartford is another example of how broadband providers are driving the innovations in speed and access that are critical to the success of Connecticut’s economy. Connecticut is fortunate to be able to offer nationally ranked broadband service, through multiple private sector providers, to the state’s employers and residents,” Oz Griebel, president and CEO of the MetroHartford Alliance, says.
