IGBT drivers for vehicles have their own requirements
Safety levels demanded of vehicular technology these days has an impact even on drivers for the IGBTs as you might find in the powertrain of electric vehicles and hybrids. The problem is that there isn’t enough time to send a warning back to a controller in the event of a problem in the battery or the power inverter. To get an acceptable reaction time, the IGBT gate driver must have safeguards built in to handle some of the possible fault modes. That was the topic of one NXP session on the GD3100 intelligent gate driver.
