Infineon, the University of Bremen’s Institute for Electrical Drives, Power Electronics and Devices, and E.G.O., a supplier to manufacturers of household appliances, formed the InduKOCH technology cooperation group to develop energy efficient kitchen appliances and technologies.
The three agreed to pool their resources until mid-2013 to boost research into energy efficient cooking and kitchen processes such as the use of IGBTs in induction cooking. E.G.O. plans to create induction cookers with improved heating properties using IGBTs, which switch the high-frequency currents of the induction coils that cook the food inside the containers.
