Dropping sales figures have forced General Motors to stop production at its single assembly plant in St. Petersburg, Russia.

General Motors’ spokesperson in Russia, Sergei Lepnukhov, said Wednesday that the plant stopped because of the reorganization of the company’s business model in Russia. General Motors announced the closure of the plant, which was the company’s only fully owned production facility in the country, in March due to Russia’s dwindling auto market. The facility opened in 2008 and cost $300 million to build.
