Gladstone, Mo. is the fifth city to garner clearance for Google Fiber’s 1 Gbps service after its city council voted in favor of it Monday night.
Google announced the expansion on its blog, but cautioned that it may be a while before Gladstone residents can access the super fast broadband and Google Fiber TV services.
“As we’ve said before,” Google wrote in its blog post, “it takes awhile to plan, engineer, and start building our network in new communities, so it will still be some time before we can hook up our Gladstone customers. We’ll publish more info here as we have it.”
Gladstone is a suburb of Kansas City, which was the first location to get Google’s services after an announcement last year. To date, only a few neighborhoods in Kansas City, Kan., have been connected to the network. A few more homes in Kansas City, Mo., are scheduled to get the service this month, according to the Associated Press.
The approval in Gladstone came a little over week after another Kansas City suburb, Shawnee, Kan. voted in favor or making Google’s service available to its residents.
Austin, Texas and Provo, Utah are also working with Google.
