Texas-based broadband company Grande Communications has finished the last leg of its gigabit speed internet service deployments in its home state.
The final addition was San Antonio, where residential and business customers now have access to 1 Gbps service.
Grande says the rollouts result in better performance for the growing number of devices in U.S. households that are all competing for speed and bandwidth.
“Today, the average home has more connected devices than ever before, and the way those devices are being used is expanding to include increasing amounts of video consumption. That means there is an unprecedented need for both more capacity and faster internet service,” Matt Rohre, SVP of operations and general manager for Grande, comments. “To keep up with this growing demand, we are introducing 1 Gigabit service to all our homes and businesses throughout the San Antonio area.”
The last rollout follows on the heels of 1 Gbps deployments in the Greater Waco and Temple areas in Texas earlier this month.
In July Grande brought 1 gigabit service to Corpus Christi. Earlier, the company deployed its high-speed internet offering in Dallas, Midland, Odessa, Austin, and San Marcos in April.
The gigabit speeds are being offered to subscribers through the same wiring they already have in their homes via DOCSIS 3.1 technology. Residential pricing for 1 Gbps service starts at $69.99 per month and includes home WiFi.
