Dick Green, former president and CEO of CableLabs, has been appointed to the SCTE’s board of directors.
The Society also announced an extension of the current board term for appointed director-at-large and Time Warner Cable CTO Mike LaJoie.
Green has been appointed for a two-year director-at-large term, while LaJoie’s tenure has been extended for one year.
“The accomplishments of Dick Green and Mike LaJoie have repeatedly created new opportunities for our industry and its technical workforce,” said Bob Foote, chairman of the SCTE board of directors. “We’re fortunate to be able to draw on their considerable talents and expertise and look forward to working with them to hone strategic directions that will benefit the members of SCTE, and the industry at large.”
“SCTE’s work with CableLabs, NCTA and other organizations has helped our industry move forward in a variety of new market areas in recent years,” Green said. “I’m hopeful that my background at CableLabs, in broadcast television and on the vendor side will enable SCTE to quicken the pace of that forward progress.”
“Ultimately, a huge part of SCTE’s mission is to create new opportunities that benefit the cable industry and the people whose contributions continue to move it forward,” LaJoie said. “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to continue to influence the development of new ways for our members to help cable to reduce costs, optimize network performance and enhance customer satisfaction.”
Prior to CableLabs, Green held various roles in the television industry, including senior vice president of broadcast operations and engineering at PBS, director of the CBS Advanced Television Technology Laboratory and director of engineering at Times Fiber Communications. He also sits on the boards of Liberty Global, Shaw Communications, Jones/NCTI and the Space Science Institute.
During his tenure as CTO and executive vice president of advanced technology with Time Warner Cable, LaJoie has been responsible for supporting new product development and identifying new technology applications and formative product ideas, as well as representing Time Warner Cable on all industry standards activities. Prior to his current roles, he served as vice president of corporate development for Time Warner Entertainment’s Time Warner Cable division, overseeing the development of VOD software and set-top boxes and other major launches of new services and products.
